Animal shelter ‘Fur Ball’ to fund expansions

Posted

The 8th annual Fur Ball silent auction gala, presented by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, will soon be taking place to raise funds to expand the facility and its services.

The Fur Ball is the shelter’s annual celebration that chronicles the organization’s successes and lays out their plans for the future. The event takes place Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel at 1101 Woodlawn Ave., in Georgetown.

In addition to the silent auction, the semi-formal event will include a meal, games, a caricature and pet artist, and live entertainment. Christy Millweard, reporter for KVUE News, will be emceeing to the event.

“It’s fun, people dress up and look nice,” said Cheryl Schneider, WCRAS Shelter Director. “Not like when they come to the shelter.”

Silent auction items will include tickets to Texas Stars and Austin Spurs games at the HEB Center in Cedar Park, hotel packages in the Domain in Austin and several hill country winery packages.

Tickets and sponsorships range for the fundraising Gala are $80 for single seating and $140 for couples. Tickets are available at pets.wilco.org, under events.

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is the only shelter solely devoted to the animals of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Hutto, Leander, and Williamson County.

“Last year, we housed nearly 7,000 animals and continued to maintain a no-kill status for the shelter,” said Misty Valenta, community programs coordinator. “This is only possible through community support, which allows us to expand the shelter and add much needed kennel space.”

The funds raised from the Fur Ball will go to various projects to fund an expansion project of a two story building west of the current facility in Georgetown.

To become a sponsor or to donate an item for the auction, contact Misty Valenta at 512-943-3817 or MValenta@wilco.org.
