Area teams fill All-District volleyball lists

Local athletes claimed both MVP awards and a slew of other superlatives following the high school volleyball season. 

Rouse advanced to the regional tournament for the third season in a row and finished tied with LISD Rival Cedar Park atop the District 17-5A standings. 

Junior outside hitter Grayson Schirpik was named MVP, racking up 450 kills, 700 digs and 60 aces for the Lady Raiders. Junior defensive specialist Reilly Heinrich was named Outstanding Defensive Players after leading Rouse with 916 digs. 

Cedar Park senior Jaelyn Grimm was named Outstanding Hitter, finishing with a team-high 356 kills. Junior Olivia Meyer was the Setter of the Year after finishing with 1,071 assists and Abbi Lemmond earned Newcomer of the Year honors after finishing second on the team with 332 kills. 

Vandegrift won the District 13-6A title and had a pair of players earn superlative honors as Annie Stadthaus was the MVP, finishing with 527 kills, 124 blocks and 46 serving aces. Delaney Dilfer was the Outstanding Setter, leading the team with 1,360 assists while coach Melissa Southall was named Coach of the Year. 

Vista Ridge had a massive turnaround this season. The Lady Rangers won just two district games a season ago but finished in a tie for second in district play this year with a 12-4 record. 

Skylar Warde was the league’s Outstanding Hitter, hammering 362 kills in her senior year with Vista Ridge. Sophomore Geneva Nedrow was the Newcomer of the Year after leading the team with 615 digs. 

Round Rock sophomore Joley Plummer was named Outstanding Defensive Player, leading the Lady Dragons with 486 digs and helping them finish in a tie for second place and make the playoffs.
