Cedar Park police investigating carjacking at H-E-B


The Cedar Park Police Department is asking the public to help identify a man involved in a carjacking reported to have occurred on Saturday, July 7.

CPPD released a statement on Tuesday that detailed the incident, along with a request for assistance from the public.

According to the release, at approximately 10:06 p.m. last Saturday, a Cedar Park family parked their car at H-E-B at 2800 E. Whitestone Blvd in Cedar Park. The husband exited the vehicle and went into the store while his wife and two young children stayed inside the vehicle.

A few moments later, the suspect walked over to the car, opened the door, told the wife and children to get out of the car and drove away. Officers were quickly dispatched to the scene.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40s last seen wearing a dark shirt and possibly carrying a red gas can.

The stolen vehicle is a 2015 red Mazda CX5 with license plate DMT0726.

Police say they believe this was a crime of opportunity and an isolated event. They don’t believe there is a further threat to the public but have provided some safety tips for residents.
