Round Rock starter Kent Emanuel had yet another dominant start and the Express downed the San Antonio Missions 4-3 on Tuesday night to extend the division lead.
The Express lead the Missions by three games with six to play. The two teams meet again on Wednesday and Thursday. Round Rock wins in both games would clinch the division and a playoff spot.
Emanuel (8-2, 3.90 ERA) tossed eight innings on Tuesday night, blanking the Missions and giving up just one hit while striking out six. He retired the final 21 batters he faced.
Round Rock scored three runs in the third innings. Chas McCormick - who had a pair of RBIs in Monday's shutout win - drove in a pair with a single. Jack Mayfield drove in McCormick with a single later in the inning.
Mayfield drove in another run in the fifth inning.
It wasn't until Emanuel was pulled that San Antonio attempted a comeback. The Missions loaded the bases in the eighth and plated one run. They added two more runs in the ninth inning.
The penultimate home game of the 2019 regular season is set to feature Express lefty Ryan Hartman (6-6, 5.33 ERA) up against Missions starter Aaron Wilkerson (8-2, 3.34) with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
