Where: 100 N Brushy St, Leander
Leander’s Old Town will be supercharged with Christmas spirit this weekend. Planned activities include the Old Town Rudolph Run 5k, Leander in Lights Parade, an ice skating rink, pictures with Santa, local school performances and entertainment, a food court, local vendors and more. Where: 401 E. Whitestone Blvd. Ste. C-100, Cedar Park
This all ages 2 hour train ride features a visit from Santa, hot cocoa, cookies and a reading of the North Pole Flyer — the Austin Steam train’s own Christmas story. Departures are 8:30 a.m., noon, 3:30 p.m., or 7:00 p.m. It’s a popular tradition, so expect a waiting list for many dates. When: Dec. 7 - 9, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Good Shepherd Church, 700 W. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park
A cast of about 300 are slated to perform the annual Follow The Star outdoor production by Hill Country Ministries. The performance follows the life of Jesus Christ through 10 different scenes. Admission is free, and food and monetary donations are welcome for Hill Country Community Ministries, which feeds more than 2,000 people per month. 512-258-6227. www.followthestar.com

Where: 1880 Hero Way West, Leander
Leander’s own Way Off Broadway Community Players present “A Cowhand’s Christmas Carol,” where Sweet Carol Christmas, a ranch housekeeper, navigates a whimsical love triangle between two opposing cowboy suitors. Tickets are $10 for ages 10 and younger, $15 for students, military, first responders and seniors age 60 or older, and $20 for general admission.
