Leander council to discuss economic incentives; agenda for retreat set

Leander City Council members will discuss several economic development incentive possibilities during Thursday’s regular council meeting, mostly behind closed doors in executive session.

One item will be a discussion of possible economic development incentives for a business prospect for the city. Another will be a discussion of an Old Town Incentive Agreement and the possible granting of economic development incentives.

The other two items will involve the Council receiving legal advice regarding the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act, and the council deliberating on security devices, security audit and network security information.

When the council reconvenes from executive session into public session, it could decide to take action on those items discussed behind closed doors, or council members may decide to take no action.

The Leander Council will also hold its annual City Council Retreat this weekend. Council members will meet on Friday and Saturday to discuss major issues facing the city and talk about what their plans and goals will be for the coming year. The retreat is discussion only. No action will be taken by the council at the event.

The meetings are open to the public, but the city does not plan to live stream the weekend retreat. However, the Hill Country News plans to live stream both days of the council’s retreat.

The Friday session is scheduled to run from noon to 4 p.m. at Hill Country Indoor at 13875 Bee Cave Parkway in Bee Cave.

Saturday, council members plan to meet from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Haute Spot Event Venue at 1501 E. New Hope Drive in Cedar Park.
