Leander ISD athletic director named Region 6 AD of the Year

This is the first award like this for Jody Hormann, who spent two years in the same position in Prosper ISD

Leander ISD Athletic Director Jody Hormann has been named the Athletic Director of the Year for Region 6 by the Texas High School Athletic Director Association.

She was notified of the award a few months ago but presented with the honor — along with five other administrators from across the state — at the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association Hall of Honor banquet Sunday in San Antonio.

“The recognition is awesome and I’m grateful for it,” she said. “All those that work in the LISD athletic department and our coaches, this award is a reflection of their hard work as well. I work with great people and  they make me look good.”

The banquet also included Hall of Honor honorees and other professional development and service awards.

Hormann said the athletic directors from all across Central Texas, including Austin ISD, Georgetown ISD, Pflugerville ISD, work closely together and are very active at bouncing ideas off of one another.

This is the first award like this for Hormann, who spent two years in the same position in Prosper ISD. Before then, she was volleyball and girls’ basketball coach at Leander in 2008 and spent four seasons in charge of the Vandegrift girls’ basketball program.

“We’ve got great kids and great coaches and so (Leander ISD is) on the forefront of everybody’s mind,” Hormann said. “So when it’s time to vote on things like this, I just happen to luck out and be the athletic director for this district and reap the rewards of that.”
