Not much will change for LISD school after the UIL announced its official conference cutoff numbers and preliminary enrollment figures for the 2018-2020 reclassification and realignment on Wednesday.
Glenn will be Class 5A Division II in its first full season under UIL classification, while Cedar Park and Rouse will be in 5A DI with snapshot numbers of 2,030 and 1,862, respectively.
UIL announced that Class 6A will have schools with enrollment numbers from 2,190 and above. Class 5A Division I will feature schools with enrollment between 1,840 and 2,189 and 5A DII will be enrollments between 1,150 and 1,839.
This is the first realignment with 5A splitting into two separate divisions as 4A-1A have done.
Vandegrift is the biggest school in LISD, reporting 2,582 and will continue to play in Class 6A. Vista Ridge joins the Vipers, coming in with 2,349.
According to the snapshot numbers, Leander is the third smallest 6A school in the state with an enrollment of 2,199. The Class 5A cutoff is 2,100. Only Waco and Donna have smaller 6A numbers.
In class 5A, Cedar Park is the biggest schools with a reported number of 2,030. Rouse will join the Timberwolves in 5A Division I with a snapshot of 1,862.
According to the UIL press release, 2018-20 alignments will be released Feb. 1 for football and basketball. District alignments for other activities will be released in the order of their seasons.
