With the opening of Danielson Middle School set for 2020, Leander ISD is set to begin a new review of attendance zones.
LISD staff will present information to the board of trustees at its Jan. 24 meeting.
In a release, the district stated that the attendance zoning process, “includes several steps designed to maximize community involvement.”
The rezoning process will go on for the next several months, with the final board review and action possible in early May.
“One of the challenges of a growing school district is periodically adjusting attendance boundaries to efficiently balance district resources,” Trustee Jim MacKay said. “We understand that this isn’t an easy process, and we are committed to understanding the various ways these changes will impact our community.”
After the board finalizes its recommendation on attendance zone changes, district staff will host public forums and collect feedback electronically for that scenario. The recommendation could change before a final version is reviewed and adopted by the board.
LISD will publish a webpage to communicate the process to the public and will solicit online feedback as well.
