The Stars shut out the Ontario Reign 1-0 on the road Tuesday night to advance to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Texas won the best-of-five series 3-1 to pick up its first playoff series win for since the 2014 Calder Cup Finals. The Stars will face either the San Jose Barracuda or the Tucson Roadrunners in the second round.

Denis Gurianov scored the only goal of the game when he hammered home a rebound from a shot by Roope Hintz seven minutes into the third period.

Mike McKenna stopped all 47 shots he faced to earn the first playoff shutout of his 13-year AHL career. He has made 91 straight saves after coming on during the second period of Game 3 on Sunday night and helped the Stars win 5-4 in double overtime.

The second round will be a best-of-seven series.

San Jose and Tucson are currently knotted at 1-1 in the other Pacific Division Semifinals with games continuing Wednesday, Friday and Saturday if necessary in Arizona. The Roadrunners won the Pacific Division and hold home ice, while Texas would have the advantage should the Barracuda advance.
