Gary Loren Greene passed away in Cedar Park, Texas on the morning of January 1, 2019 at the age of 75. A proud fifth generation Texan, Gary was born in Houston, and graduated from Bellaire High School and The University of Texas at Austin. He was a chemical engineer specializing in the plastics industry.
Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed many varied interests, including playing the guitar, bird-watching, singing barbershop harmony, genealogy, square dancing, science, Boy Scouts, golf, astronomy, and Texas history. He loved rooting on his Longhorns and grandkids at sporting events. Gary considered travel an important part of life’s education, and many of his happiest memories were of trips with his family. His legacy of devotion to family lives on in the hundreds of people he touched in so many ways.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara Brown Greene, son Scott David and his wife Maryellen, daughter Terri Christine and her husband Sean Gallagher. His six beloved grandchildren are Andrew Carlson, Jack Michael, Benjamin Fisk, and Eli Loren Greene; Anna Christine and Ryan Patrick Gallagher. He is predeceased by his parents John Edwin and Lella Ben Allee Greene and his brother Donald Allan Greene.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5th, at 10:00 am, at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Miracle League at Town and Country at www.austinmiracleleague.org or a charity of your choice.
