OBITUARY: Minnie Angebelle Linebarger Carwile

Minnie Angebelle Linebarger Carwile was born on May 1, 1920 and passed on to her heavenly home on April 7, 2017 at the age of 96.

Minnie Angebelle’s parents were Minnie Belle Inman Linebarger and Luther Jerome Linebarger.

She is survived by her two daughters, Colleen Watley (husband Jerry) and Flora Richey (husband Raymond), three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She grew up on a farm near Leander with her siblings, Adrian, JT, Emmett, Kate and Pat. She graduated from Leander High School when she had just turned 16 years old. Her father thought she was too young to be out of school so he sent her back for another year. She substitute taught that year for a teacher out on leave.

After marrying Reverend Wilson Carwile, she attended Howard Payne College. She also earned a degree from The Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. She served faithfully with Rev. Carwile at a number of churches. In recent years, she moved her membership back to New Hope Baptist Church in Leander.

Minnie Angebelle also worked as a bookkeeper for a number of years and retired from The State of Texas working in the Purchasing Dept.

She especially enjoyed reading, writing, sewing, and cooking. She finished writing a book while in her nineties about growing up on a farm with her parents and siblings.

Funeral services were held April 12 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown with interment on April 15 at Bagdad Cemetery.
