Pedestrian injured after intentionally walking into traffic

A section of U.S. 183 in Leander was closed last Friday night after police say a man who intentionally walked into traffic was hit by the driver of a Ford F-650. The pedestrian, reported to be a 31-year-old Leander resident, was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Leander police said the southbound lanes of 183 between Heritage Grove Road and San Gabriel Parkway was closed for about an hour and a half during the investigation.

Police said the incident happened about 6:40 p.m., and the pedestrian admitted that he had intentionally entered the roadway.

The driver of the Ford was uninjured and remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Police said no charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
