Property owners in Texas have until Jan. 31 to pay property taxes in full, or the unpaid balance will begin accruing interest and penalties.
Payments can be made in person, online or by mail. Credit card payments will be subject to processing fees, and all payments must be made by 11:59 p.m. Jan. 31 to be considered timely.
Mailed payments must be postmarked by Jan. 31 to be considered timely.
Property owners may also pay in person at one of the county's tax collector offices or drop boxes. Williamson County taxpayers can make a same day appointment at www.wilco.org/taxoffice/appointment. Travis County taxpayers can find locations and get further information at www.tax-office.traviscountytx.gov/map.
Both counties encourage taxpayers to avoid the rush and pay before Jan. 31, and are advised that placing payments in a USPS drop box does not guarantee the same day postmark and using a bank’s online bill pay could delay payment, both of which could result in additional penalties and interest.
