The Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatics Division was named Agency of the Year by the Texas Public Pool Council at its Annual Aquatic Conference in San Antonio.
According to the TPPC, the Agency of the Year award goes to one agency annually that demonstrates excellence in service to their community, the aquatics industry and reflects the values and furthers the goals of TPPC.
In a release, the city listed a number of accomplishments of its aquatics team, including hosting more than 115,000 guests at City of Round Rock pools in 2018, teaching 1,400 participants through its aquatics programs, hiring and training a seasonal team of more than 270 employees while increasing retention rates of returning team members by 42 percent.
The city also said it had lowered costs of its lifeguard training program from $215 to $75 to increase the number of applicants, trained more than 200 lifeguards in-house during the year as well as hosting the 2018 Central Texas Regional Lifeguard Competition at Rock’N River Water Park.
The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded accreditation status from the National Recreation and Parks Society and was awarded the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation.
