The Spurs’ season came to end with back-to-back losses.
Austin dropped its home finale to the Sioux Falls Skyforce 116-111 Thursday night at the HEB Center. They finished the regular season on the road with a 138-107 loss to the playoff-bound Oklahoma City Blue.
After winning the NBA G League title a season ago, the Spurs finish this season 20-30 overall, tied for 10th in the Western Conference.
Travis Trice was the bright spot since joining Austin in January, averaging 18.6 points and 8.6 assists in 33.3 minutes per game. Jaron Blossomgame and Nick Johnson, who were traded away from Austin during the season, wee the only other players with more points and minutes per game.
SMU alum Ben Moore had a stellar season in his first year with the team. He led the team with 8.8 rebounds and added 12.9 points per game. Amida Brimah led the squad with 47 games played.
Lonnie Walker IV and Chimezie Metu spent most of the season bouncing between the G League and the NBA.
Walker averaged 16.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29 games in Austin, while Metu had 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 26 games played with the G League team this season.
Walker and guard John Holland each scored 23 points in the home loss to the Skyforce on Thursday. The Spurs led by as many as 15 points in the first half, but the lead changed hands 13 times in the second half before Sioux Falls pulled ahead for good.
On Saturday, the Spurs only led briefly in the first quarter. Travis Bader tied the game at 17 apiece in the second quarter. The Blue outscored Austin 69-51 in the second half. Holland finished with a team-best 20 points.
Next season will be the 15th season the team will have been in Texas and they’ve made the playoffs eight times with a pair of titles.
