The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) opened its temporary dog shelter June 6 in the county's Livestock Show Barn in San Gabriel Park. The facility is celebrating the culmination of hard work and construction of its renovated and expanded facility with multiple events in June, including a free adoption event for dogs over 30 lbs from June 1 through June 9 and a grand opening of the temporary dog shelter, nicknamed “Canine Corral,” on June 6.
WCRAS is also in the process of building a new adoption center and is making renovations on the existing shelter that will soon expand into kennels. As renovations take place, the dogs will be moved to a temporary shelter in San Gabriel Park.
The dogs will be ready for the public in their temporary location June 6 from noon to 6 p.m. The shelter welcomes all visitors to come in and foster or adopt a dog during the Canine Corral’s Grand Opening event. Dogs 30 lbs and up will be free to adopt, smaller dogs aged 7 months and up will be $15 to adopt and puppies (younger than 7 months) will be $75 to adopt.
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is located at 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 512-943-3322.
