Louis T. Witte, 90, of Cedar Park, Texas died surrounded by family from complications from a stroke on March 19, 2018.
Lou was born in Chicago on Oct. 27, 1927 to Isabelle (Spratt) and Louis F. Witte and had two big sisters Isabella and Mary Louise. He spent the majority of his life in Westmont, IL. He graduated from Tilden Tech HS in 1945. He joined the Navy during the end of WWII serving aboard the sea tug Kiowa and the old USS Ranger as she was decommissioned.
In 1950 Louis worked his way up from a lathe operator at International Harvester to a top engineering executive before retiring in 1983. In 1960 he married former Air Force Lt. and nurse, Dolores M (Uneus) and had one daughter Amy.
Lou, along with his wife, were founding members of a Chicago area bank. He loved to sing in the church choir at Christ Lutheran in Clarendon Hills, IL. In 2003 he and Dolores moved to Cedar Park to be close to their only child Amy Koski, son-in-law Rudy and granddaughters Kaitlyn and Lindsey. He was the nicest man in the world and up to his last few days on earth told everyone he was “super fantastic.” There is a huge hole in our heart.
To our Papa Lou we say, “see you later alligator.”
Louis will be interred at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery AT 2 p.m. on April 27 in Killeen during a military ceremony.
