Six track athletes from four Leander ISD high schools qualified for the UIL Track & Field State Meet.
Cedar Park, Leander, Vandegrift and Glenn will be represented when the two-day meet gets started on May 11 at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas.
Leander’s Elizabeth Roca will compete in the 400-meter dash after qualifying with a time of 56.64 seconds fellow Lion Gavin Davis will run in the boys’ 400-meter dash with following a seed time of 48.94 seconds.
Vandegrift’s Jordan Mathis will run in the one mile and two mile runs, qualifying for the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:02.32 and the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:53.86.
Cedar Park freshman Kaitlyn Childress will represent the Timberwolves in both distance events as she finished the 3200-meter run in 11:08.83 and the 1600 meter run in 5:11.57.
Glenn sophomore Gabrielle Thomas qualified in three events, running the 100-meter dash in 12.51 seconds, jumping 17 feet, 11.5 inches in the long jump and finishing with a mark of 38 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump.
Grizzlies freshman Chloe Coffee jumped 5 feet, 4 inches to qualify in the high jump.
