Texas beat its second ranked team in less than a week on Wednesday night.
The No. 3 Longhorns swept No. 8 Minnesota 3-0 (25-22, 29-27, 35-33) at Gregory Gym to start unbeaten early on the season. Texas beat then-No. 14 USC 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21) on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Micaya White led the team with 16 kills, seven digs, two aces and four blocks. Sophomore Logan Eggleston finished 15 kills, two aces, nine digs and a pair of blocks.
The trio of freshman made a huge impact with Skylar Fields posting 10 kills, hitting .348, and tallying one block, Asjia O'Neal contributing seven kills, hitting .700, adding two aces and seven blocks, and Molly Phillips adding five kills, hitting .714 and two blocks.
White stepped up with the Longhorns trailing by four points in the second set and helped them rally for three straight points. Back-to-back kills by White and Eggleston gave Texas the come-for-behind win.
Texas rallied to tie the third set at 17-17. The Longhorns fight off nine set points and O'Neal blocked a Minnesota shot that gave Texas a 33-32 lead. White had back-to-back kills to give Texas the hard-fought win.
The run against ranked teams continues on Sunday when the Longhorns travel to California to face off with No. 1 Stanford.
